Our weather station is a Davis VP2 plus which measures temperature (indoors and out) humidity (indoors and out) barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, as well as the solar and uv radiation which falls on it. We have a a Boltek PCI lightning detector and Nexstorm software which detects lightning strikes and provides direction and distance. Our weather data is shared with the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (CWOP ID: W1HJF), Weather Underground (KNHCOLEB1), Anything Weather, several global organizations, as well as lightning detection to StrikeStarUS. We provide radar and satellite pictures courtesy of the Weather Underground.
Colebrook, NH is located in northern New Hampshire in northern New England of the United States. The town is located next to the 45th parallel at about 800 feet above sea level. We are on a hill with an elevation of 1400 feet. The weather tends toward cold winters (our lowest temperature has been -46 degrees Fahrenheit) and moderate summers with the temperature seldom climbing above 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Colebrook is a small community of about 2500 people. There used to be a lot of dairy farms here, as well as a lot of logging. Within the last 30 years or so, many folks from cities to our south have bought parcels of land, subdivided them and built second homes. The area has a concentration of shops and other businesses and is a shopping area for a population of about 15,000 people.
